Today our Honors Child Psychology class at Grand Rapids Community College had our orientation for our academic service learning experience at Family Promise of Grand Rapids, an organization helping families who are homeless. Kelsy Vining gave an overview of the Family Promise organization, and shared ideas for ways students can help and learn during this semester. The students will work at the Family Promise Day Center, spending time with the children and families, preparing meals, organizing donations, preparing resume materials for the families, and creating a flyer about nutrition.
The students and Dr. Byerwalter left the orientation pumped up and ready to start work!
